The Nuggets Playing Tall Ball
This
week the NBA returned for the first of 3 scrimmages that each team will play in
preparation for the NBA restart that begins Thursday, July 30th. One of
the most intriguing things that were seen during the games was when the Denver
Nuggets put out a lineup that consisted of a tall ball lineup. With their tall ball
lineup, the Nuggets presented a lineup where everyone was at least 6’7. At
the beginning of the game All-Star big man, Nikola Jokic started at point guard.
This lineup is the opposite of the Houston Rockets who play small ball were
their tallest player at times is just 6’8. The Nuggets and Rockets are currently
the 3rd and 6th seeds respectively; which means they
would play each other in the playoffs if the standings hold through the 8
reseeding games. If this happens this would make a very interesting matchup with
two contrasting styles. You have the Rockets who play small ball and love to
jack up threes. You have the Nuggets who can play up and down but when crunch
time comes, they play through Nikola Jokic. This would be a must-see series to
see if James Harden and Russell Westbrook would be the overcome the size that
the Nuggets can be on the court at one time. With the addition of Bol Bol, it
will be interesting to see how much playing he will get during the playoffs. The
real games begin next week cannot wait to see what happens down the stretch.
