The NBA is scheduled to start on December 22nd. The season will consist of a 72 game schedule. This is great news for the players and the teams as the league stands to potentially save close to $1 billion in revenue compared to if they started the season in January.
The NBA draft will happen on November 18th and training camp will start on December 1st. There are several things that will have to be figured out from roster perspectives prior to the start of the season. This includes what is going to happen with to key veteran players who are expected to be traded such as Jrue Holiday, and Chris Paul.
Chris Paul
Thunder likely to move him to contender with the NBA Champions the Los Angels Lakers being a possible destination. Also Chris Paul would be a great fit in Milwaukee giving the Bucks a legitimate floor general instead of Giannis constantly having the ball in his hand trying to go through a brick wall; when the Bucks are in a half court set. Another team that could use him but unlikely scenario given their past history the Los Angeles Clippers who need a true traditional point guard to help run the offense.
Jrue Holiday
One of the more underrated NBA players is Jrue Holiday. He is a great pace setter and can run your offense. Also has great defensive abilities and has a knack for stealing the ball. He was ranked in the top 15 this 2019-2020 season with almost 2 steals a game. The New Orleans Pelicans Guard is being shopped around. The Pelicans have a number options when it comes to potential Suitors for Holiday. The 11 year Veteran can be the missing piece to help put a team over top when it comes to winning a NBA Championship. Likely teams vying for his services are going to be contenders. Teams such as the Bucks, Clippers, and even the Warriors if he was willing to accept a backup role in Golden State.
All in all with training camp schedule to start in a little over 3 weeks this off season will be a very exciting season. I can’t wait to see what this very short and fast off season brings with trades likely to start developing around draft night.
