Western Conference Play in Games Preview

The Western Conference portion of the Play in tournament starts Wednesday night. It will showcase the Memphis Grizzlies vs the San Antonio Spurs for the first matchup. The final matchup of the night is the most anticipated of all 4 Play in games you have the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Golden State Warriors. We will take a dive into each of the games and will have predictions as well.

Memphis Grizzlies vs San Antonio Spurs

The Memphis Grizzlies have a rising star in Ja Morant as he looks to for the second year in a row, he tries to get them into the playoffs. Last year they fell short of making the playoffs after losing to the Portland Trailblazers last year. The Grizzlies and Spurs are similar in play style to each other. Both teams play at a similar slow pace and do not really shoot too many 3-point shots. This should be a good game with the Grizzlies coming out on top 110 to 102. Morant will finish with 18 points and 8 assists. DeMar DeRozan will do what he can to keep the Spurs in it but Morant and the upstart Grizzlies will not be denied a chance to fight for the 8th seed.

Lakers vs Warriors

The defending NBA Champions are in the Play in games against the hottest player in the NBA in Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Curry won the scoring title this season and he can fill the basket quickly. The Warriors are facing a top 5 defensive team and specifically a top 5 team in opponents 3-point field goal percentage.  Lebron James and Anthony Davis will start the game but for the Lakers to win both players will have to finish the game. The last game James and Davis played each player did not finish the game. I believe this will be a tight Laker victory with Curry doing all he can scoring 35 points.  Unfortunately, I have feeling Andrew Wiggins will be neutralized by the Lakers which will put all the pressure on Steph to do it all. The Lakers will win with James getting 24 points, 7 assist , and 8 rebounds while Davis drops a double double 27 points and 15 rebounds. This must see matchup will not disappoint.
